Museumplein is part of my Amsterdam series. It started with the idea of drawing animals on the Albert Cuyp market, eating stroopwafels. I loved drawing the city around it so much, that I decited to draw the rest of this beautiful city too, with al the "people" in it. Just as animals, like I usually like imagining. Like any city, Amsterdam is constantly changing. Things can look one way and you come back a year later to find it completely different. Although the Rijksmuseum itself will stay the same, Museumplein has changed over the years. There used to be a shallow pond. In the summer they had planters with beautiful flowers and in the winter they'd make it into a skating rink. It is no longer there, but in this drawing my favourite version of Museumplein will live on forever.
Eventually, they will all be in a book, a kind of love letter to the city I love living in so much! For now they will be available as cards and prints.
The fine art prints are available in other sizes too, ask me about the possibilities. Fine art prints are made on order, so it may take up to 7 business days for them to be ready to sent out. They are signed and numbered and only 12 of each will be printed in this manner.
