Meis was painted in Spain in 2019. Although it was october and the weather was still extremely summery, my mind went to Dutch winters and i wanted to pay homage to Amsterdam. The City that had been my home for 9 years at that point. The map of Amsterdam on her thick wintercoat and the cosy knitted bonnet reprisent my utimate winters in Amsterdam.
