Flowerbike is part of my Amsterdam series. It started with the idea of drawing animals on the Albert Cuyp markt, eating stroopwafels. I loved drawing the city around it so much, that I decited to draw the rest of this beautiful city too, with al the "people" in it. Just as animals, like I usually like imagining. Flowerbike is a special one, the flowerbikeman is the creator of the bikes and they are all over the city. He started making, and leaving them for his wife so she could find her way in the city after that became a challange for her. If you want to see more of his story, you can google flowerbikeman and read the whole story on his site. Taking a picture with one of the bikes is such a common sight. This kangaroo is on the Lekkeresluis, a bridge with the Brouwersgracht/ Korte Prinsengracht in the background. Eventually, they will all be in a book, a kind of love letter to the city I love living in so much! For now they will be available as cards and prints.
