De Liefde is part of my Amsterdam series. It started with the idea of drawing animals on the Albert Cuyp market, eating stroopwafels. I loved drawing the city around it so much, that I decited to draw the rest of this beautiful city too, with al the "people" in it. Just as animals, like I usually like imagining. Like any city, Amsterdam is constantly changing. Things can look one way and you come back a year later to find it completely different. De Liefde (The Love) is the name of a building on a treet by the same name. The street bears the name of a church by that name that used to be situated there. I discovered the gate that leads to the building when I just moved to Amsterdam and have always loved the name and the art in the gate. So to me, this is an important part of Amsterdam i wanted to share with you!
Eventually, they will all be in a book, a kind of love letter to the city I love living in so much! For now they will be available as cards and prints.
The fine art prints are available in other sizes too, ask me about the possibilities. Fine art prints are made on order, so it may take up to 7 business days for them to be ready to sent out. They are signed and numbered and only 12 of each will be printed in this manner.
