Grimburgwal is part of my Amsterdam series. It started with the idea of drawing animals on the Albert Cuyp markt, eating stroopwafels. I loved drawing the city around it so much, that I decited to draw the rest of this beautiful city too, with al the "people" in it. Just as animals, like I usually like imagining. I used to have a tiny store on Grimburgwal, right next to Gebed Zonder End (prayer without an ending), a street that used to have a lot of monasteries in them. It's a very cute place that has a view of the universities and a canal with a wall that boldly says LOVE ME... which i definitly do. These Koati are found a great spot for a little wine on the canal Eventually, they will all be in a book, a kind of love letter to the city I love living in so much! For now they will be available as cards and prints.
