Bakfietsmoeder is part of my Amsterdam series. It started with the idea of drawing animals on the Albert Cuyp markt, eating stroopwafels. I loved drawing the city around it so much, that I decited to draw the rest of this beautiful city too, with al the "people" in it. Just as animals, like I usually like imagining. I drew Bakfietsmoeder for all those parents driving their kids to and from school with their bakfiets (bike with a big box in front). It hasn't been a thing for too long but is has completely taken over the city views. You will see them everywhere. I myself have one to do the makets with, and it would make my life a whole lot harder to do them without one. Eventually, they will all be in a book, a kind of love letter to the city I love living in so much! For now they will be available as cards and prints.
